THE FRIEND
Jagat Banerjee is a famous surgeon and socialist. He does the several life threatening surgery. In his personal life, he is unhappy with his wife and son. Jagat an ardent reader of voracious subjects. He is also a moralist and socialist. He has a tremendous passion for public’s welfare. He is not very possessive for money. His family dislikes it. Sometimes, his son revolts against him. His wife approves his son to do this. Jagat love his son and wife very much. Now, he became disappointed from their behaviour. But, he wanted to forget it always and devoted into his work. Mental depression overpowered him. So, he wanted to seek a woman soulmate other than his wife. Only in this case, he is not correct. At last, one spinster woman Rekha comes in his life. They meet frequently one another secretly. On the other hand, Jagat organizes the seminar on superstition especially on Kabiraji medicine and their harmful effect. He increases enemies day by day. Some dishonest Kabiraji protests him severely. He have got life threat also. His family’s disloyalty worried him. Rekha give him a suggestion to divorce his wife, otherwise she will reject him. Jagat is not interested to divorce his wife. He has an acute love and affection for his son. Also, he is thinking his social status and prestige. He know the reverse effect if he divorce his wife. Everybody will blame him. But, Jagat don’t tell Rerkha about his decision. He has a real love about Rekha too. Rekha knows it very well. She also loves Jagat and not wanted to hurt him. That because, she wanted to marry Jagat as soon as possible. But, Jagat’s perplexed mind hurts Rekha. Gradually loves faded away and come to an end. Rekha marries other person. Jagat’s life will became again miserable. His wife and son behaves rude after knowing his relation with Rekha. Defames bewilders Jagat. Jagat is a living God to his patients. It is only solace of his mind. Otherwise, everybody is against him. He wants to impress his family but failed. Jagat realizes that the evil powers are ruling over him. He became weak and frightened in his mind. He ended out protest against corruption and superstition. The oppositions started to grimaces and insult him. All of a sudden, one important surgical operation is failures by him. The patient dies immediately. The patient’s relative wants his death. Jagat feels tremendous grief and at last he suicides.
